The OMARA website has been updated to reflect the lapsing of the Migration Amendment (Regulation of Migration Agents) Bill 2018.
On 11 April 2019, the 45th Australian Parliament ended with the announcement of the general election. As a result, all business on the Notice Papers before the House of Representatives and Senate lapsed.
The Bill to remove certain Australian Legal Practitioners from the OMARA regulatory scheme was one such matter and will therefore require reintroduction to Parliament in order to be passed. In the meantime, Australian Legal Practitioners must continue to register with the OMARA in order to provide immigration assistance.
