Labour Agreements are a formal arrangement negotiated with the Australian Government to bring eligible skilled workers to Australia where standard temporary or permanent employer sponsored visa programs are not available and there is a demonstrate need that cannot be met in the Australian labour market.
There are five types of Labour Agreements:

Company Specific Labour Agreements

A Company Specific Labour Agreement is executed directly with an employer and is considered where a genuine skill or labour shortage for an occupation exists which is not already provided for in an industry, or relevant project or designated area migration agreement.

Designated Area Migration Agreements

The Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) program supplements the workforce
strategies of States, Territories and regions, to support employers in designated areas and help them adjust to changing economic conditions. This Agreement provides flexibility to such employers based on their specific economic and labour market conditions.

Industry Labour Agreements

Industry Labour Agreements are in place for particular industries experiencing skills shortage.Such arrangement provides for fixed terms and conditions agreed to by the Minister in consultation with key industry stakeholders, specific to that industry sector. Industry Labour Agreements are currently available for the following industries: Dairy, Fishing, Meat, Minister of Religion, On-Hire, Pork, Restaurant (fine dining), Advertising and Horticulture.

Project Agreements

A Project Agreement allows project companies experiencing genuine skill or labour shortages access to temporary skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers to meet peak workforce demands during the construction phase of resource or infrastructure projects.

Global Talent Employer Sponsored (GTES) Agreements

Global Talent Employer Sponsored (GTES) Agreements

Unlike other arrangements, Global Talent Employer Sponsored Agreements allow companies to bring highly skilled and specialized workers in critical areas with an aim to provide more opportunities for Australian labour market by creating new jobs and knowledge transfer.
