The legislative instrument (Nil VAC Arrangements and Other Matters) Amendment (Rugby League World Cup 2026) Instrument 2026 (LIN 26/082), introducing special visa arrangements to support the Rugby League World Cup 2026, which will be hosted in Australia from 15 October 2026 to 15 November 2026.
Under the instrument, the eligible applicants for a Temporary Activity (subclass 408) visa will not be charged a visa application fee if they are accredited for the event by the Australian Rugby League Commission and fall within an approved category, including competing team members, coaching staff, match officials, support staff, broadcast and media personnel, VIPs, and other official participants.
These arrangements apply to visa applications made on or after 15 July 2026, and the provisions will be automatically repealed on 16 November 2026, shortly after the tournament concludes.
