The Migration (Specification of Commonwealth Priorities for Subclass 202 (Global Special Humanitarian) Visas) Instrument 2026 has set out new Commonwealth priorities guiding the permanent settlement of people proposed by approved proposing organisations under the Community Support Program. This instrument commences on 17 July 2026.
Commonwealth priorities established:
- Primary applicants must be between 18 and 50 years of age at the time of applying for the visa.
- Primary applicants must be able to demonstrate adequate comprehension and expression of spoken and written English, sufficient for independent daily living, employment, and workplace safety.
- Primary applicants must be able to become financially self-sufficient within 12 months of arriving in Australia, either through an existing offer of paid employment, or through a genuine intention to seek employment supported by evidence of relevant skills and experience.
