Employer Sponsored Visas
1. Can my visa be cancelled by my employer?
No. However, your employer may contact the Department and request them for cancellation your visa, depending on the type of visa you hold.
2. What is a labour agreement?
Labour agreement is a formal arrangement between an Australian organisation and the Australian Government for allowing the organisation to recruit an agreed number of skilled workers from outside Australia. Usually the labour agreement identifies the relevant skills shortage in the business and why these vacancies cannot be filled by Australian workers.
3. What will happen if my employer (sponsor) ends my employment?
If your employer ends your employment, you are given 90 days to either find another employer to sponsor you or apply for a different visa or leave Australia within 90 days, or before your visa expires, whichever comes first.
4. What are paying for visa sponsorship scams?
In 2015, new criminal and civil penalties and visa cancellation provisions were introduced as part of visa sponsorship framework which provided for imposition of sanctions on a person who asks for, receives, offers or provides a benefit in return for visa sponsorship or employment.
