402 Visa – Occupational Training Stream – FAQ

We suggest referring to the information provided by Department of Immigration and Border Protection. McKkr’s has sponsorship approval for the Occupation Trainee Stream. http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/402.aspx

Q. Who is eligible for a 402 visa?

McKkr’s can analyse resume to assess your suitability to the program under our sponsorship. Analysis of resume is free of charge. The basic requirement is that candidates need to have at least 12 months full time experience in the occupation they will be nominated in the last 24 months and that experience can be work experience or study experience or a combination of both.

Q. Which occupations can apply for a 402 visa subclass?

All occupations included in the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL). Find the link to CSOL from 1st July 2013 here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/csol.pdf

Q. How does the Occupational Training work?

Our training program is on the job. In order to sponsor someone under a 402 visa subclass under our sponsorship, McKkr’s carefully analyses the business that is offering a position to you and checks your educational and work background. Once we are satisfied that the business can provide you a position that fits into structured training program we have prepared for you to enhance your skills in the occupation based on your skill audit and appraisals. McKkr's carefully analyses your skill gaps and develops a customised Training Plan to implement in order to enhance your skills in the nominated occupation. The Training Plan is coordinated with the employer and workplace supervisor. Once the visa is approved, McKkr’s monitors training for as long as the visa is valid.

Q. Does McKkr’s provide recruitment services? Can McKkr’s find me an employer?

No. We do not provide recruitment services. We can possibly sponsor you to get training in a variety of occupations in different industries in Australia, as long as you have an employer willing to provide you the workplace to work so that you can enhance your occupational skills.

Q. What is the purpose of this 402 visa?

McKkr’s works with one stream of this visa called Occupational Trainee Stream. The main purpose of this visa is for candidates to enhance their skills in a particular occupation.

Q. I have an employer willing to offer me a position I want to work for an enhance my occupational skills, but they are not interested in sponsoring me. Can McKkr’s help?

Yes, we can. The employer does not need to sponsor you, as we are already an approved sponsor by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. We are happy to offer you our sponsorship if you are eligible for a 402 visa and if we are satisfied that your employer meets our criteria to become a host organisation for our training program for you.

Q. Can McKkr’s apply for nomination and visa application for me?

We do the 402 nomination application for our candidates free of charge. We also coordinate with your migration agent, if you have one, to help them prepare your visa application. In case you do not have a migration agent for your visa application and you need one, you can contact us on training@mckkrs.com.au and we will be happy to assist.

Q. Is the training paid?

That depends on your arrangement with the employer/host organisation. Training under 402 visa can be paid or unpaid.

Q. How long is this visa for?

The 402 visa can be valid for up to two years and can be renewed. Once we analyse the candidate’s skill gaps and finalise the training plan, we will advise about the length of training period and accordingly duration of your visa. Generally the period ranges between 1 and 2 years.
